There's a lot of legal stuff we need to say to offer a service like this. By the time we're a million-dollar company, we'll need to hire a lawyer to dot all the i's and cross all the t's. In the meantime, though, here's the skinny:
- By signing up to use Patron, you agree to these terms.
- These terms can change at any time without notice.
- Patron gives you a fully functioning web management service as described on this site.
- You pay for this service in the amount determined by your plan level. On time. Every time.
- You can cancel at any time. At that point your card will not charged again, but your site will continue to be active until your next billing date. We don't prorate your monthly fee, so there's no complicated math to figure out a partial refund.
- You're in charge of keeping your username and password confidential.
- You agree not to use Patron to do any of these no-nos:
- breaking laws
- explaining how or encouraging others to break laws
- doing anything you'd be ashamed to tell your grandmother
- in other words: just use your head
- You own all the words and images you upload. (You better own them, right? See the no-nos listed above.) However you grant us the right to use those images and text in marketing materials and other stuff that demonstrates to the world how great Patron is. (We never said we were modest.)
- This part is pretty lawyery: You indemnify Patron and its parent company, officers, affiliate, subsidiaries, employees, members, caterers, college roommates, and probably a dozen other people we've forgotten harmless from any claim or demand resulting from your website.
- If your site really takes off and is using more bandwidth or storage than we can normally accomodate, we may have to charge you extra. It won't be unreasonable, and if you're doing that well it's probably just going to seem like a drop in the bucket.
- If a law enforcement agency asks us to shut your site down or hand over the keys, we have to obey.
- We make no warranty that your site will never go down. (It's the Internet, and there are just too many variables that are out of our control.)
- You accept this service on an "as is" basis. We make no warranty that you'll never need something for your site that Patron doesn't provide.
- You expressly agree that Patron is not liable for damages resulting from any problem with your site.
- This agreement is the total of the Terms of Service.
